Botox cosmetic injections are an FDA-approved, prescription medicine utilized to target facial muscles responsible for creating fine lines and wrinkles. Part of the Neuromodulator class of injectables, it is used for moderate to severe crow’s feet, brow furrows, and frown lines which can be temporarily and quickly erased. Through this procedure, patients achieve a smooth and youthful appearance — reinvigorating their confidence.
Botox is designed to soften wrinkles caused by the muscular activity of your face. Your facial muscles move when you make certain expressions and over time, this muscle movement creates wrinkles where the skin folds together. Botox works by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. When the injected muscle is unable to contract, wrinkles relax and soften.
A great benefit of Botox® is that patients experience little to no pain! While every patient will experience different results, all patients will notice a drastic reduction in wrinkles and lines. It will take 3–7 days after your treatment to notice the full effects of Botox®. Some patients may notice brief and slight swelling at the injection sites. We advise patients not to apply skin care products containing active ingredients after their treatment. Also, refrain from applying pressure to your face for several days. After your Botox® treatment, you may wish to maintain your new appearance by scheduling follow-up sessions every few months — remember Botox® is a temporary yet highly effective wrinkle-releasing agent.
