Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Welcome to Sculpted MD – Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, your premier clinic in Colorado. We proudly offer Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) at our convenient Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock locations.
HBOT involves the inhalation of pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, providing a range of benefits for various symptoms and conditions. From decompression sickness and infections to air bubbles in blood vessels, HBOT has proven to be an effective treatment option. It is also used for non-healing wounds and carbon monoxide poisoning.
During HBOT, you’ll experience a pressure similar to diving about nine or ten feet deep in a pool or ascending in an airplane. The chamber’s increased pressure is combined with concentrated oxygen levels, reaching approximately 50-60%, significantly higher than the atmospheric oxygen level of around 20%. This allows your lungs to efficiently absorb the concentrated oxygen, promoting overall longevity, tissue healing, and even concussion therapy.
In this state, your blood can transport oxygen more effectively throughout your body, enabling enhanced self-healing. Oxygen is crucial for the proper functioning of your body’s tissues, and when injured, they require even more oxygen to recover. HBOT increases the oxygen-carrying capacity of your blood, temporarily restoring normal blood gases and tissue function. This facilitates healing and helps combat infections.

Discover the numerous benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy:

What is a Hyperbaric chamber?

It is a transparent enclosure used to administer HBOT. The chamber allows the patient to breathe a highly concentrated amount of oxygen while experiencing an increased atmospheric pressure. This concentrated delivery of oxygen optimizes healing in damaged tissues. HBOT, or Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, delivers oxygen to the body, particularly damaged tissues, at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure. Traditionally, it is a primary therapy for gas embolism and decompression sickness (The Bends). In other cases, it is a supportive treatment alongside standard protocols.

How does it work?

During the treatment, you will lie inside the chamber as the pressure and oxygen levels increase. This oxygen-rich environment, combined with the higher air pressure, accelerates and enhances the delivery of oxygen molecules to damaged or impaired tissues, promoting healing.

What does HBOT treatment feel like?

As the pressure changes, you may experience a slight pressure in your ears, similar to diving or taking off in an airplane. Swallowing or opening your mouth can relieve this sensation. The internal chamber temperature might slightly increase, but it will return to normal once the treatment pressure is achieved. Once the chamber reaches treatment pressure, you should feel comfortable and relaxed. During decompression, you may again feel a slight pressure in your ears.

Can I do something while inside the chamber?

The Hyperbaric Chamber provides a tranquil and relaxing environment. You can use this time to decompress and relax without distractions. However, if you prefer, you can bring your phone or tablet to watch shows or listen to music. Your comfort is our top priority.

Are there any side effects?

A few patients may experience temporary changes in vision, which typically resolve within eight weeks after completing treatment. We advise against getting a new prescription for eyewear during HBOT.

Can I bring anything into the chamber with me?

While we recommend bringing only a water bottle, you are allowed to bring your phone or tablet into the chamber if it helps you feel more at ease.

How long does treatment take?

Our HBOT sessions last 60 minutes (1 hour). The duration of treatments varies depending on the specific diagnosis. For chronic conditions like autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, tinnitus, and tissue healing, treatments may continue for 20-40 sessions. Minor or acute issues may require fewer sessions. Some clients also use Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for general wellness, scheduling sessions once or twice a month. Consult with our physicians for personalized guidance based on your needs.

At Sculpted MD – Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, we are dedicated to providing you with exceptional care and the benefits of this transformative therapy. Contact us today to schedule a consultation or learn more about the advantages of HBOT.
